At St. Jude School, the religious formation of our children is paramount. We encourage a spirit of prayer as a reminder of God’s presence throughout the day. Each morning and afternoon our community says a short prayer together. Each class has opportunities for planning and participating in the Liturgy.
St. Jude School provides opportunities on occasion for other para-liturgical services such as retreats and prayer services, Students have the opportunity for involvement in all of these and thus develop a greater realization of God's presence in their lives.
Students in grades K-8 attend Mass weekly and our liturgy team students are given the opportunity to help prepare the weekly Masses.
At St. Jude school we are blessed to have space and materials for level 1 of the Cathecisis of the Good Shepard (CGS) The special space is called the Atrium. CGS is a Montessori based approach to religious formation. Children in grades K-2 visit the Atrium once a month with a trained parent volunteer where they spend time in prayer, use the materials to develop a deeper relationship with Christ and learn about the Holy Mass. This special time is used to enrich their regular daily religion curriculum.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Holy Eucharist are major events in the life of the child. All of our children are instructed in and given the opportunity to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation.
Our annual May Crowning celebration is held as part of our Mother's Day Mass. Eighth grade students are paired with our second grade first communicants for this very special prayer service honoring our Blessed Mother.
Students are encouraged to be good stewards and are provided with many service opportunities throughout the year. Students in grades 6 through 8 are required to complete a minimum of 5 service hours each quarter as part of their Religion class. Monthly canned food collections are donated to Helping Hands and other local food banks. Monthly dollar dress down days raise funds that are donated to local charities.
